Visited my brother in Germany this weekend. Went down on Thursday evening and came back today in the afternoon. Some things we did: * Visited the Checkpoint Charlie museum * Visited a Russian themed café called Gorci Park. * Bought CDs, much cheaper than in Sweden. * Bought a new spring jacket. Ironically from H&M, a Swedish clothes store chain. Most likely slightly cheaper though. I think I like Stockholm more than Berlin. It feels cleaner and fresher... Maybe it's partly a psychological thing: The apartment where my brother lives has a rather rundown feeling, which I was reminded of every time I saw an old building, which is the most commond kind of building there. Though one nice thing about Berlin is that it's really cheap to go out and eat and drink. The local "sunkhak" in my brother's area only took 1.5 for a beer. Most other places weren't as cheap, but still cheaper than in Sweden. Even the cider was cheap, imagine that. | | Thursday, January 10th, 2008 | | 9:42 pm |

I have the chance of ordering some book called Fantomerna by Klas Östergren for free. The likelihood of me ever reading it is very low. Any of my swedish friends want it? There's a description here: http://www.adlibris.com/se/promotion.aspx?page=gratisbokAlso, I'm moving on sunday to a new appartment. 2 rooms + kitchen in Hagsätra, 64 sqm. Fairly high rent though. At least it's close to work so I can sleep longer. :P | | Saturday, September 15th, 2007 | | 1:12 pm |
Yesterday I was at a movie night at a friend's friend's appartment. The theme was rather haphazardly decided as "from outer space", so we watched Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Gay Niggers from Outer Space and Plan 9 from Outer Space. Killer Klowns was a rather normal movie, sadly not as hilariously bad as it could be. Gay Niggers was probably the best of the three movies. It was rather short though, might have gotten boring if it was longer. I only saw 20 minutes or so of Plan 9, then I fell asleep. :P | | Tuesday, July 31st, 2007 | | 9:27 pm |
Looking for an appartment, will probably get thrown out from my current sometime in winter... Can't really decide what I want... Should I rent or should I buy? What part of the city? I don't have that much money yet, so the usual 10% cash limits my choices if I want to buy one. But I don't know if some banks lets you borrow the full sum, or at least more than 90%... In that case I have more choices. But I don't really feel like paying 1 million SEK or more for an appartment either... Hard to pick the area too. I guess it'd be nice if it's somewhere near Älvsjö, where I work. A friend recently got an appartment in Rågsved, which is very close. He also only had 2 years worth of "kötid", so I probably also could get one there. One of my friends that is a bus driver told me there's a bus line connecting Rågsved and Älvsjö, so I could probably get there in almost no time at all... The only problem is that I think I want a two room appartment, isn't as easy to get one compared to a 1 room appartment. :/ If I want to buy there are some very cheap appartments in Flemingsberg... Also close to my job. When I looked a week ago i saw some around 130k to 150k SEK. Almost free, but of course the monthly fee is fairly high. A 2 room appartment of 68 m^2 or so cost 130k but had a monthly fee of 5500... Very high fee for a bought appartment... Though it'd probably be less in total than what I'd have to pay if I just rented one of a similar size. Though if I want to move in 2-3 years it feels stupid to buy an appartment... Though one good thing with a cheap appartment is that even if appartment prices makes a huge drop I won't lose very much money. | | Monday, July 16th, 2007 | | 12:20 am |
The first week of my three week vacation has just ended. I've spent all of the weekdays lazying, but I've actually been doing things on the weekends. Last weekend Andreas celebrated his birthday at his grandma's weekend cottage and this weekend some of us from the Mangakai Täby gang visited Simon and played board games. The total number of hours spent in the sun are about two, all of them yesterday while playing board games outside. :P The plan for the rest of the weeks is to try and finish my master's thesis., as I never managed to get it finished before I started working. When talking to my supervisor he told me a new version of the simulator we're using will result in much better performance. This is both good and bad, because there will be some work converting to it and I will have to redo the old tests I've done, but the old version really sucked. According to the previous tests all the method's kind of sucked, hopefully now we'll get some interesting results. Also, I will be 25 years old on the 18th. I guess it's a good idea to ask for some more expensive stuff for present, but I can't really come up with anything I want that doesn't cost a bit too much. What's annoying though is that if I don't tell my family what I want they might buy something semi-expensive that I really don't care about, which will make me feel guilty... Kinda weird column in Metro from friday one week ago (only available in swedish): http://www.metro.se/se/article/2007/06/07/21/3045-45/index.xmlThe interesting part is the next to last paragraph. My first reaction was "lolz, Tanja", my second was that I wondered what nerds she has hung out with... There is definitely nothing sexy about having an extreme interest in japanese loli mangas. It might be that she's talking about people that are fascinated by the phenomen, or maybe we define "brinnande intresse" differently, but, uh, no. Last weekend there was a conference trip to Tallin for the Stockholm office of the company I work at, but I completely forgot about needing a passport, so I had to skip it. :x I blame the high number of trips I've done to Finland to visit relatives, where you don't need a passport. Did go out on saturday with some friends though. This weekend Simon gathered some people for a gaming weekend. Me, Tomas, Patrik and Pingu drove up after work on friday and stayed until 6 PM today, sunday. Even managed to spend some time in the sun and went up around 8 AM today, both of them things that would never happen if I was at home. :P I guess none of the Swedes have missed that Sapparikon is next week the 15th to the 17th? My mom celebrates her 50th birthday on the 16th though, so I'll probably only show up on friday and sunday... My mom said she wanted a pair of binolucars, so that's probably what I'll buy. A friend suggested I should look in Teknikmagasinet, but other than that I have no idea what stores to look in... Just finished watching the last episode of Juuni Kokki. It's a good series... Though some storylines were just dropped and never mentioned again, kinda weird... Will probably buy it on DVD. If I do it'll be the second anime I've bought. :D Work is going ok... Haven't really done any work right now, just been reading documents and learning about the project. There's a deadline very soon, so people don't have that much time to teach us newcomers about stuff. At least I've gotten a fairly good picture of what I'll be working on now. In the 3G cell phone network the radio base stations are connect by gigabit fiber to controller stations, which in turn are connected to each other. There are dedicated cards in the stations that take care of protocol conversion and such and it's those cards I'll be working on. Lots of Assembler programming, it seems. Went to a pub called Shakespeare with Gurvon and Andreas last sunday. Andreas was selling an Atari to Gurvon's sister, so Gurvon acted as the courier and they decided to meet there and Gurvon dragged me along. We chatted about games and stuff. It was nice, I really enjoyed hanging out with them. Current Music: Mike Oldfield - Elements the Best of - 01 - Tubular Bells (Part 1) | | Thursday, May 3rd, 2007 | | 9:39 pm |
It's kinda annoying, lately I haven't felt very relaxed before going to bed... I feel like I don't enjoy my free time. :/ Almost always I feel like I've wasted time. Maybe I need to find something new to do on evenings... Though I don't want to plan anything that I know will take a lot of time, because then I feel too much time will pass. Time I don't use for anything useful anyway, but tell that to my brain. :P Went to a comics fair this weekend. It was fun... Good to meet some people... No news, I spend way too much time at home. :) On monday I celebrated Walpurgis night, also fun. Current Music: Desireless - Francois - 05 - Animal | | Tuesday, April 17th, 2007 | | 10:29 pm |
Wee, got a job now. Actually the final meeting was last wednesday, but I've been too lazy to write about it here. :P Got the job at C********. Will work as a system developer. I'll be in a project to develop some stuff for Ericsson's new telecom platform. They finished the deal just the week before I got the job, so they don't know much about it either yet. I'm supposed to start working the 7th May... Now I just need to finish my master's thesis. :P Current Music: Mike Oldfield - The Platinum Collection - To Be Free | | Wednesday, March 28th, 2007 | | 1:40 am |
http://axiomsun.com/home/video/peanut_butter_the_atheists_nightmare!.htmlDamn, how could any person believing in evolution ever counter such an argument? :/ Still working on my thesis. Not much happening... Partly because I'm and partly because I have gotten two part-time jobs. The first is a continuation on a project I worked on during summer break 2005, the second is an internal website for some stockbrockerish company. Haven't really started on the second project yet because of some server troubles, but they ought to be fixed soon. I also have two companies that seem kinda interested in hiring me. One of them is Tobii, a company developing and selling eye-tracker devices, both for handicapped people and for analysis of the effectivity of stuff like webpages and commercials. Two of my friends work there and the company is kinda small, so I'd probably enjoy it a lot there. The job I applied for was as a .NET developer for video editing. Video editing sounds like a very specialized area, so I doubt that would be all I do. .NET is probably fun, so not bad either. Only been to one interview there, a technical one, but one of the friends said they seemed interested when they asked him about me. The second company is C********, some Saab-related company, I think Saab owns 100% of the shares or at least a majority. From what I understand they do a lot of consulting work for other companies. Analyze some problem and compare different solutions and also offer to create a solution of their own. They had some Young Engineers project going with Ericsson where they take in newly graduated Ms.Sc. people and let them work while at the same time letting them study different areas that they like and that would be a useful resource later on. When I was at the interview the interviewer talked about working on switchboard development for Ericsson.... Sounds like it could be a bit more interesting tasks to work with, but it feels like less fun to work for a huge company, especially as a consult. I've been to one interview and going to a second one tomorrow. | | Friday, February 16th, 2007 | | 6:28 pm |
Didn't get a job I had applied for. :/ It was at a company a friend works at. He told me and another friend they were looking for more people, so we both applied. The other guy was a bit quicker to apply and got employed, but they felt there'd be too many persons without previous working experience if they also employed me. I don't think it was just an excuse, it felt like they were genuinely interested. What makes me sad is that I felt like I really had a chance... It's a small company and I don't think they had put up an ad on some site, so it feels it was easier to get employed by them... The problem is that it's impossible to find these kind of companies on your own, the only way is if they put up an ad on some job site and then you'll be competing with a lot more persons. Just thinking about it makes me feel tired... After all I'm a lazy bastard. How the hell will I manage to get a job? Shaved my head again, so now it's nice and shiny once more. Today I visited Jonas Thörn, to celebrate his girlfriend's birthday. Cake and later on some Tequila. Seems like winter has come, a month or two late.... Because of all the snow it's brighter outside now, at 2 AM, than it was when I left home around 5 PM. http://reprap.org/bin/view/Main/WebHomeI think it will be a long time until it can make most of its own parts though... But still cool. :) Visited Simon along with some of the guys from the Mangakai Täby gang for a board game weekend. Played several different games, had lots of fun. Now I've also seen their famous mini pig. Current Music: Tangerine Dream - Tangents (Disk 3) - 301 - Cloudburst Flight | | Sunday, January 7th, 2007 | | 4:17 am |

Watched Little Miss Sunshine today. I liked it... The humor is similar to Napoleon Dynamite's, the family the movie is all about is very tragic. :) |
